Hi Pat. I'm a caregiver who had to learn about this quickly. My husband became ill and shortly after started dialysis. I knew nothing! I imagine your mother has some knowlegde about kidney function being an RN, but once you start learning about the kidneys you find out there's so muh to learn. A couple of quick things I learned that I will share if you don't mind. If you read this i think you will learn a lot. Don't be afarid to ask questions. I had to 6 zillion of them already lol. This article helped me , I hope it helps you to understand too.

Hi & Welcome Pat!  Yes, I too remember when my Husband was diagnosed 7 yrs ago.  It was devastating! But as time goes on, in all the overwhelming aspects of this disease, we finally realized to accept it and enjoy the rest of our life together!  Now I will confess, we just realized it recently, but hopefully, you can learn from us on IHD!  IHD knows what, how & why any thing KIDNEYS!

Just sit back & read!  If you can find your answer, then you ask away, cause someone will have an answer! Have your mom join IHD too!  She would find it very informative.

Again Welcome & God Bless,
lmunchkin
