 :cheer: Hello everyone my name is Gloria Iam a state certified dialysis tech who decided to start her own dialysis staffing agency for home dialysis patient in Grand Rapids , Michigan and surrounding areas. I have been working on this since 2009 and based on the information and concerns from dialysis patients and family members. I started off by working in the in center dialysis units.  I moved to Las Vegas and worked in the hospitals doing dialysis for two yrs and moved back to Grand Rapids Michigan to be closer to my family I took a position in Home Hemo dialysis I had the chance to train with patients and family members and one of the question that always seem to come up was "Staffing" to come to the home to do the treatments. So when I lost my job as a tech due to new management team.  I took this as a blessing to put 13yrs of exp into affect buy starting Home Hemo Partners, LLC so after two years of research and planning Iam ready to begin to make it known to the dialysis community. In the process of putting all of this together I've learned I had to pull myself up by my boot straps to move forward because no one was willing to share any information to help me make this happen.

Going through life tied to a chair!

Hi Gloria and welcome to IHD.  I think that is a great idea.  You need to get to the dialysis patients themselves.  I know if I could get someone to come to my house and put me on (the same person everytime) I'd do it.  But, Medicare would have to pay for it and I'm not sure they do that.  Usually home dialysis is a husband or wife that does it for free.  Hmmmm money may be a problem.

Best of luck with this.

welcome!    :welcomesign;

I read this while at in-center Hemo and showed it to my favorite tech (Matt) and he said the same thing, who's gong to pay for it.....

the only reason i am not doing home hemo is my lack of a care partner, but I would do anything to have Matt come to my home :) not only is he the best one at my unit, he is the center's "go to guy"

please keep us posted

and  do you think you can come to NY and hook me up??  :yahoo;

Welcome Gloria. I wish you luck. This is a great idea but yes, the money problem. Your business might be a kind of David and Goliath thing too. Those big dialysis companies would see you as a threat even though you're just one person. Perhaps if you offered a one time fee or a flat rate to help people as they begin home hemo and need more help than they usually get you might get clients willing to pay out of pocket. Keep us informed.
