Living life to my max

« on: May 31, 2011, 07:36:02 AM »

I have not been feeling well for a week when I arrived at dialysis on Friday night at start of Bank Holiday weekend. I thought I had been throwing off latest illness but not to be. When we started my temp was 37.1C or about 98 in US terms. Dialysis usually makes me feel better but by the end of my 4 hours of delight I felt worse. My temp was 37.7 and the nurses were concerned. Before taking me off they took blood and they would not let me leave until my temp was down to 37.3.
The weekend was not nice and I could feel myself getting worse. I had little energy but was sleeping. When I arrived at dialysis the results showed an infection. They took blood again and the results were ready before I was off machine. It showed much the same - just a bit better than Friday's results.
With no doctor around on a Bank Holiday Monday I could not get a prescription unless I wanted to wait in the emergency room.
I did not feel fantastic but I figured I could go one more night. WRONG - I slept not a bit and watched the clock. Dave took me to my doctors office at 8am and I got a 8:20 with a doctor - not my normal one. I had the blood test results to show him.
I started a course of antibiotics this am. I feel a bit better and had a 3 hour nap and will have another soon.

 :oops;
TODAY IS THE DAY the workers came to rip out our bathroom!!!!! Figures but we will be happy when the work is done.

I hope you feel better soon!  Just the fact of having a fever makes you feel crappy. Don't forget to finish all your antibiotic even if you feel better. We have 2 local pharamcies that are open 24-7  365 days a year. It's great and more places should do that. Do you know what the infection was from?

Yes, try to find the source of the infection if you can.

Hope you feel better soon, Bill.  Ooh, new bathroom?  Mine is six months old this month ... I'm still loving it; I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
