Hello, my name is Chardra.  I am a 30-year-old native Houstonian and history teacher who has been on dialysis since March 2003.  Peritoneal dialysis has been my treatment of choice since 2004, however, due to complications (that hopefully my PD nurse, doctor and I will work out by this summer), I am back on hemo.  (Booooo!)  I have to say that though I feel I can better cope with hemo these days (it so did NOT work for me back in '03), I also feel that I need to connect with more people who understand and are willing to discuss the positive and negative aspects of living with ESRD.    With that said, here I am! :bandance;

I grew up in League City & pretty much all over the galveston County area....now living just north of Dallas for the last year.

Glad you found this site! It & the people are AMAZING!!

(as a side note...since you're in that area....there is a "pick yourself" Peach orchard in Dickinson....they have peaches, apples, black berries, green beans, squash, cucumbers, etc....even a separate herb garden. If you're on FaceBook, look up Fruits N Such   ....oh yeah...did I mention my aunt & uncle own the place? lol If you decide to go sometime....opens for the season in a few short weeks until mid to late June....I promise you'll love it!!!! It's a nice way to enjoy yourself & just forget about everything for a little while at least!)

Welcome!   :waving;   I'm a native Texan!  Born and raised in San Antonio, not far from you!  I live about 30 miles South of S.A. now, though.  So glad you found us!  This is a great site!  I hope you can get off of hemo soon and get your issues with PD fixed.

Hi Chardra and welcome to IHD.  I love history.  It is a funny thing.... in school I didn't like it and could not understand why I needed to know all that crap that happened in the past.  Now I can't get enough of it.  How do you make kids want to know history?

Hope things continue to go well and that maybe you can go back on PD someday.  I'm so glad you found us.
