Hello there.
I found this board last night while surfing the net.
I was transplanted 14 years ago, after 1 1/2 years of peritoneal dialysis.
I had not been sick a day in my life. Honestly! Then all of a sudden, I went into kidney failure.
I had a kidney infection that I had no symptoms of except the swelled ankles. When the doctors finally figured out what was wrong, the function was only 15%. They called it vascullitus.
I have had 1 episode of rejection. Which was about 6 weeks after the transplant. They tried to cut my medications down too fast. Apparently I have a very strong immune system.
I hope to learn a lot here, and maybe I can help someone too.
Have a great day! :2thumbsup;

wow wygal, welcome!

You're a bit of an inspiration - going 14 years strong is fantastic! I'm so envious and hope I can go half as long, or more, as you - I'd be very happy (I have modest goals in life!).

I am certain you can help others as you join in our community - it's great you've found us and we've found you.

Hello wvgal1 and welcome to IHD.  I had my kidney 17 years and then high BP got the best of it.  I wish you years more with yours.

I'm so glad you joined us.  I'm sure you can encourage those waiting.     :pray;
