Starting my "new" life

I had the catheter inserted on 2-25.  After a couple of weeks, the weekly flushing started.  The supplies are to be delivered today.  Fifty boxes!  We have a living room that we don't use much and that's where they are going.  Training starts next week Tuesday. 

The question that is laying on my mind IS  at the end of next month we are going to NE WI for the summer.   I figure that the supplies that was ordered for me will take me to the first part of June.  I trust the center in Abi will inform me how to get more supplies.  I don't know if I will be on the daily exchanges or the night time machine when we go.

Note to self -  Don't sweat it, God's got yer back!

Yes, God does have your back.  Just see where you are at then and order appropriately.

Your doing PD it sounds like.

When you go on vacation let your nurse know when you are going.  Either she or preferably you should contact (baxter if thats who your using) and let them know when and where you will be vacationing at.  The people at baxter are very helpful by most accounts and can have your vacation supplies shipped to where ever you will be staying.  All you will have to bring is your machine.  And your PD clinic will likely have a case you can use for packaging your machine..

I have already let the nurse know.  Although I haven't started yet, my training, I have check out several website looking at PD training videos.  I see my neph tomorrow, the first time since before having the piping (cath.) installed.  I'm pretty much mechanically inclined, so I don't think I'll have a problem learning the new routine.  One thing that concerns me is that if I have a contamination will I have to travel 60 miles or can my PCP be able to change the Link tubing between the cath and the fill tubing.  I forgot what it is called.  She is 20 minutes away.

I had a scare last night.  I took the end of the fill tube from the elastic strap that cradles the end and part of the end was missing.  Oh oh, contamination!  I clamped the tube and headed for Abilene early this morning (an hour + drive)   After all was said and done there was no breach, just part of the end came off .  I was given some antibiotics just to be on the safe side.  We got back home in time to eat at the Senior Center and then I went to volunteer at the local hospital's gift shop.
