OK, well, that's some progress.  At least y'all are talking about the future.  I really hope you find some help soon.  You're right...you'd think people would be lining up for the chance to work.

Looney, i can relate to this. we too live way out in the boonies. we have a small farm and some livestock and too many "pets". the old house is held together with dollar store tile, walmart paint and a wish and a prayer. no insulation much (think massive amts of plastic in winter). the well makes everything rusty even with a good water softener. we had a huge ice storm and there is a mountain of even huge-er trees in a pile to burn. we don't have a dishwasher and i dry things on the line or in kitchen in winter as we heat with coal. i have to get 2 glass panes tomorrow to repair broken windows, 2 in kitchen were replaced when they blew out during a violent storm recently. i do what i can for sure, but you remember old ma and pa kettle movies and their farm?
i'm a compulsive cleaner and fixer but just so much i can do. i've tried to get hubby to think about moving many times. we will eventually. he loves the view here, no neighbors close and fields all around.
its very peaceful after chores. sooner or later i am not going to be able to keep up, so we are looking for a place south.
just can relate is all..hugs sister
