Big Steve intro
«

Hi I'm Steve and I am happy to have found this website. I had a left radial nephetomy in Jan. 2000
because of Renal Cell Carcinoma. My Bun and Creatinine stayed up after the operation, but
my doc told me it was ok. But in the last 6 months my Creatinine has moved in the high
3 range, and my nephologist stated mentioning dialysis. I am having a hard time deciding
whether PD or Hemo, possibly not wanted to come to grips with the life-style changes.
I would especially like to thank the posters who have given such detail on their treatments.

Hey Big Steve, Welcome aboard to our awesome website and fantastic support group. On a personal note, i was on hemo for 3 years and hated everything about it, fluid restriction, diet, just feeling awful all the time. I was gaining weight quickly cuz i couldnt control my fluids and my dietician came up to me and talked to me about PD, i watched the movie and decided i wanted to try it. Let me tell you, that was the best decision i ever made, I am currently on CCPD, (the cycler) i run 11 hours at night (not everyone runs that long) it all depends on height, weight and stuff like that, but if you enjoy your freedom during the day, PD is definetly the way to go. If you havent seen the video yet, please at least ask them to see it before making up your mind. Good Luck to you and please keep us posted.

Hi BigSteve, Welcome to the site. I know what a tough decision you're making, I just started PD on December 7th. i agree with Goofynina, if you enjoy your freedom during the day you want to be on CCPD so you can do PD at night with a cycler. I run for 9 hours at night and do one exchange in the day. It's not too bad. Feel free to ask all the questions you want!

BigSteve! Glad you joined the family. My PD has gone quite smoothly, do 4 dwells during the night of 1 hour and 45 min. each and have a daytime dwell. I am on the cycler for 9 hours, during which time I move about room to room, with my 20-foot long cassette tubing; being on IHD, fixing a snack, watching T.V., reading, whatever... Not such a bad lot in life...
