The punches keep on coming!

I just was discharged from the hospital after 3 weeks in. I had a very dangerous case of septic poisoning in my blood and a bad uti. I had been feeling very off for quite sometime and had stomach issues, etc, and at school one day my left leg started to really hurt. I thought maybe I just stepped on it wrong or something but as the day went on it got worse and I had to be helped to my car. Over the next couple days, I just laid on the couch, and couldnt walk. My dad took me to the ER and they said if i hadnt come when i did, i may be dead right now. I now have blood clots and am on blood thinners. I am back on antidepressants as well. i just want good news for a change instead of all this crap.

Oh honey-you sure have had a rough time the last year or so- I am so glad you got help in time! I hope the antidepressants give you a little relief, have you been able to do your schoolwork? or was this all during your break? (some break) I am thinking of you and wishing you some better luck for this next year!

Wow! When it rains, it pours, doesn't it? Here's hoping 2011 will be a year full of "good time" for you.

Oh my God! My mother died this past summer from septicemia as a result of a UTI; like you, she just sort of ignored it for a while, and by the time she got to the hospital, it was really too late. It didn't help that she was 81. Thank goodness you got medical attention in time.
Hasn't 2010 just sucked? Seems like for our IHD members, it was either a really great year or a real sucky year. My vote is for the latter. I hope you get a LOT of good news very quickly. I'm so sorry this happened to you but grateful that you lived to write about it.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I think I had been sick for awhile since Thanksgiving at least when I went to Omaha. I slept a lot, had bad diarrhea and was not acting right , my family thought i was actually doing drugs. I was so scared at the hospital, thinking i could lose my new kidney because i didn't think i was that sick, just thought i had a bug or something since we flew, but thankfully my new kidney is fine creatnine is 1.2 and holding steady and labs look okay, but now i have the dvt to deal with, which is not fun. i couldn't move at all and had to scoot on my butt to the bathroom, and losing my mom has really been hard. i am going to maybe see a therapist. plus the roommates i had at the hospital! omg one ladt had copd and her family was smoking in the bathroom!! i also had one lady who talked to herself all night, so needless to say after 21 days in there I'm a bit tired and annoyed with hospitals. i am glad to be home so much.

how awful!! im so sorry and i hope that next time your feeling 'off' even a bit you get yourself in and take some good care of yourself.. Though being young brings it's own strength, sometimes an illness will take over even at a faster pace. Please take care
Im so sorry too that your missing your mom
i'm having a hard time missing mine too and it's more expected at my age to be loosing a parent. It's got to be extra hard for you.

I have no idea how they expect anyone to get better in a hospital - it's not like you ever get any rest!
