I, and my husband's cousin, (she lives with us part-time) both have bacterial bronchitis, and now Mike has it.

He is at 9% kidney function.  The Neph has called in a script for a Z-Pak, but I just want to recheck and be sure that is OK for him to take that with his limited kidney function.  We've learned the hard way not to blindly trust any of the docs so I'm looking for a second opinion.

BTW, the cousin is on Augmentin and Delsym cough syrup, and I'm on doxycycline and sudafed.  (Do docs ever agree on meds?? ;D )

TIA,
Lorelle

Black - A couple of times in the past three years, when my kidney function was at less than 10%, my neph prescribed Z-pack to me and it was fine. In both cases, I had some kind of upper respiratory thing and my Dr.'s goal was to give me something that would work quick, because being sick was far worse for my kidneys (and overall health) than taking an antibiotic. I'll tell you...the Zithromax (Z-pack) really worked for me!

I have taken the Z-pack for branchitis.  It will whap the hell out of whatever bug is in his system pretty quick.
