Hi,hope somebody reads this,i have found a product that really helps us people on dialysis,I've been taken off all the renal drugs, been on hemodialysis coming up to my 7th year.Had squamous cell cancer twice + have beaten it for the 2nd time.Last october i started taking "Sun Chlorella A".It rebuilds one dying cell in our bodys in 17-20hrs into 4 new cells,so it works at the cellular level,a 250 billon yr old algee, only was allowed into usa in 1981,before it was put thur a dyno mill to make it easily digestable.I tell no lie regarding this.I have a lot of information to help us all.I even started to do wee-wee's ,but nothing for all these years until i started taking a product called "Cordyceps"10 days later i passed urine,a good flow,no burning,no blood. Please take note..no-one can heal us except our efferts,+pray to god he heals you,to my brothers+sisters, peace+love to you all.Alan(Mundo)

Welcome to the forum, alan ross.  I am glad this algae and mushroom food supplement is working out for you.  It is customary to post in the introduction forum before you jump into a testimony about a product or anything else for that matter, so perhaps you can introduce yourself and a little about your history on dialysis.
http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0

As to chlorella A, the only human study I could find showed that with a small sampling of 17 subjects, it could induce a hypoglycemic effect (reduce blood glucose), which may help someone with elevated blood glucose.  There is no study to suggest chlorella can cure kidney diseases, although diabetes is a well known cause of ESRD.
Nutrigenomic studies of effects of Chlorella on subjects with high-risk factors for lifestyle-related disease.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18800884

As to cordyceps, it is a mushroom species responsible for ciclosporin—a drug helpful in human organ transplants, as it suppresses the immune system (Immunosuppressive drug).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordyceps

Do you have any disease you know of where immunosuppressive drugs are indicated?  Have you been a kidney transplant recipient?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and wisdom.

If you are on HD, did you know that Rapid fluid removal (UF = ultrafiltration) during dialysis is associated with cardiovascular morbidity?  http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=20596
We follow a modified version: UF limit = (weight in kg)  *  10 ml/kg/hr * (130 - age)/100

How do you know you are getting sufficient hemodialysis?  Know your HDP!  Scribner, B. H. and D. G. Oreopoulos (2002). "The Hemodialysis Product (HDP): A Better Index of Dialysis Adequacy than Kt/V." Dialysis & Transplantation 31(1).   http://www.therenalnetwork.org/qi/resources/HDP.pdf

Here we go again. I view all 250 billion year old miracle cures with great suspicion.

OK, Alan Ross, please heed greg10's advice, and properly introduce yourself.

Thanks greg10 for your great research,
it is very much appreciated!

Hello, Alan,

I would be interested to know

a)  if you have changed or modified your Diet?
    (Are you a vegetarian?)

b   Have you changed your life-style?
(are you under less stress now?)

Or, do you think it was one particular thing that helped you?

Please let us know as it really would be a great help to people in ESRF,
though we all understand that what suits one might not suit another.

Kind regards from Kristina.

The reports I've seen on both is that they got good results in a few animal studies.  There haven't been any real human studies on either - all of those either had incredibly small samples or bad methodologies.  There have been no studies at all on how they interact with other meds, or if there are any long term side effects.  Neither are FDA approved - they are only sold as herbal supplements, which means there are no standard formulations or controls on the manufacturing processes.

The algae is a strong antioxidant.  But then, so are blueberries, and those don't have possible side effects.

Only thing I can add to a this dubious thread is that sometimes your urine output can strike a purple patch (not literally, thank God). After weeks of every other day, I'm going almost normally. And I haven't been eating chorella. Vegemite, yes, but definitely no chorella.
