Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is Lynette and I have CKD. I'm at stage IV and going for a second opinion.

Hi Lmayo, and welcome to IHD.  My sister's name is Lynette too.  It sounds like you don't believe you are in ESRD IV.  Well, there is stage V so you have some time.  Go get your second opinion.  Come here if you want to vent or have questions.

You need to ask what your Creatinine number is.  That is a blood test that tells kidney function.  Normal is .5 to 1.5  or thereabouts.

I know you must be freaking out, so take a deep breath.  I'm so glad you joined.

God Luck with your second opinion! I saw three different drs. before I found one that told me what I "wanted" to hear. She said I did not have ESRD, that I was just dehydrated! As much as I wanted to believe her, her whole attitude and actions made me suspicious. By actions I mean: She was wearing a VERY short skirt and she sat so that she "flashed" my husband! He was so embarrassed! So was I! She also refused to look at any of the test results that I had brought with me. She insisted that I was just dehydrated and needed to drink more fluids. She would not listen to the fact that I still was producing my normal amount of urine! When we left, I told my husband that as much as I wanted to believe her, I knew in my heart that she was wrong. I went back to my original neph and have been satisfied with my treatment since.
Sorry I ranted a little! I'm sure your 2nd will be good!
Again,   :welcomesign;

Welcome to the forum.  We have a "Pre-dialysis" forum that you may find useful.

It's always worth getting a second opinion when CKD has been diagnosed.

Hi, Lynette.

If you don't connect well with your neph or you don't trust that s/he has your best interest at heart you should absolutely get that 2nd opinion.

I hope that things turn out well for you. In the mean time, look through the threads for information and ask questions.
