Hello from the other side of the chair....well for the time being.  Currently, I am "JUST" a diabetic.  Not sure how long that will be, I kidney function have made my Doctor uneasy.  I will worry about it, not going to let it stop me though.  I have been working around Dialysis for the last 9 years, work as I do for Hema Metrics.  All of our nurse trainers Have worked as Nurses in Dialysis Clinics themselves, and they are ALL patient activists.  I have heard all the worse cases, and quite a few of the best ones also.

My bet is that the people I will find on this site take an active role in their treatments.  It is the way I roll…it is the way we should all be.

About myself:  I had a active 24 year career as an enlisted person in the USAF, retired with 50% disability.  Went back to college and got my Degree in Business/Information Systems.  That was about the hardest thing I had done to that point in my life.  Worked full time at night, and went full time to school during the day.  Sleep was something you did when ever a free moment appeared, and free moments were few and far between.  And all of that got me where I am today, the good and the bad.

But enough of my ramblings, if you REALLY want to know more, I am open to questions.  If you want to know about me, or what I do…ask.

Yep, you're right...we here on IHD DO take an active role our treatments or in the treatments of our loved ones.  We're all rollin' the same way.

Welcome, and thanks so much for joining.  What are you and your doc doing to make sure you don't end up on dialysis?  Is your diabetes pretty well controlled, or is D inevitable for some reason?

First about my choice of Avatar, I had one of the first commodore 64s....it wasn't even a "Rainbow, AKA true color" version...It kind of set the tone for my whole family's life and choices for making a living.

As for where I am with my kidneys...I am in the VA hospital system...and we are going to explore why some of my functions were not correct last blood test.  My diabetes is well under control, my A1cs were so low that they reduced my meds, concerned about sugar crashes.  I will post on how this whole thing is going.

One thing more....well a couple actually.  I use Pidgin for my Instant Messager, and if I am at work, I am "ON-LINE"....if you have a question or suggestion, ping me and ask away.

I am getting an education from being here, but I am also here looking for suggestions that will provide you information that your clinics may not provide you.  I will can give you some facts about you providers that you could find out for your self, if you knew where to look.  Unlike them, I am happy to share, and will find out what I can...all you have to do is ask.  I have some wonderful resources.

Welcome aboard!!!

You're absolutely right that if we didn't take an active interest in our treatments/condition/situation then we wouldn't be here since you'd have to be actively interested to even seek out such a site. You're one of those folks and made your way here - good to have you with us!!
