Yvonne

« on: September 25, 2010, 04:42:57 AM »

It's a lovely bright cold Saturday morning here in England.  I walked up to our local shop to buy John's newspapers as I did every Saturday morning when he was still with me. On the way my mobil rang it was Mandie John's daughter, she said she was at my house and could she wait until I got back (it only took me 10 minutes) She was standing on my drive waiting for me, it is the first time I had seen her since John's funeral, as I reach her we just fell into each others arms and I landed up breaking down. As John and I were second time arounders I just thought his family would never get in touch with me again. Mandie asked me if her eldest son Liam could have his Grandads ring. I said I promise you at the end of the day Liam can have the ring, but I am not ready to let it go, it is the only thing, other than photo's that I can hold or wear that brings John close to me. We had coffee and talked for about a half an hour, it was quite comforting.
I said it will be John's 75th birthday on the 9th October could we all go out for a meal, Mandie agreed and said she would be in touch to make arangements. My family have been great, do not know what I would of done with out them, but John's family have always been a bit distant towards me, I think that because their Mum (John's X wife) is still around they find it a bit awkward. It's been 5 months since John's passing, it seems like only yesterday.  :'(  Yvonne

Gosh, five months?  How lovely that Mandie came to see you; I hope you're all able to celebrate John's birthday together and remember happier times.

(And the weather is deceptive today.  I thought it was going to be warm because of the blue skies and bright sunshine.  But oh-no.  It was bluddy cold because of the wind!  That'll teach me to wear summer clothes when it's nearly October!)

Hey Yvonne, great to hear from you and how nice for John's family to come see you.  I sure hope that continues.  Hubby and myself are also "2nd time arounders" and I fear the same things.    Here's to continued good relationships with them....  :beer1;

I'm sending you cyberhugs, my friend.

It often takes a life changing event to bring people closer, and I am so glad that you and Mandie were able to offer each other comfort.

Hi Yvonne, so glad to hear from you, and think about you often. That was nice of Mandie to stop by. Hope she continues to do so, as it helps to talk about it. What are you doing to keep yourself busy these days? We miss you.   :cuddle;
