Thanks Karol.  I'm covered, except of course I haven't had the flu shot yet for this year but the time is drawing near.

I have noticed "Flu Shots Here" signs on just about every corner around here.
Jenna will get her's soon, and the doctor has recommended all of us that live with her get one too.
Are you going to get one?

For me, (pre-dialysis) I do not think the flu-jab is right as I think it caused
problems and allergies when I had two flu-jabs in the 1980’s,
so I will not have it now or in the future.

I just take great care by avoiding crowded places,
avoid public transport, peak-time-shopping etc.

I also research concert- lecture-halls etc. for quiet corners
to give me a chance & avoid people coughing and sneezing at me.

I have been lucky so far and avoided flu’s, touch wood...

Had mine yesterday.... Can't risk Mum getting flu from me... Besides, I've breathing difficulties...

Mum's GP is calling to give her the vaccination next Thurs...

Actually, when I went for me Operation Pre-Assessment on Thursday, they asked if I got it...

This is a good debate. To have the flu shot or not. We live in the UK. I have never had any problem having the annual flu shot, but this year they have included the "swine flu shot" in with it. I and my husband declined the swine flu shot last year, I did some  research and I was not happy with how quickly they churned this out, subsequently we have got stock piles in the UK because of the low take up last year and now I feel as though they are forcing  old and vulnerable people to have this whether they want it or not. I think there will be a decline in this years shots because of this. I would not mind if they gave you the choice and kept the swine flu separate so you could at least have a say as to what goes in your body.

Yes, I will get mine.  Transplant center will give it when the timing is right.  Can't risk getting any infections, flu, cold, etc.

I've  been  getting  flu  shots  for  over  20yrs,  no  flu like  symptoms,  just  a  sore  arm.

I  will probably  get  my  at Dialysis  monthly  clinic  visit  on  Wed.

I imagine we'll be getting our at dialysis in the next few weeks.  One of the Neph's was around yesterday, and that was his question to us all, "are you planning on getting the flu shot?"

I always get a flu shot, every year.

If I catch the flu and become too sick to drive myself to the dialysis center, I'm screwed.  I live alone, and there's no one to drive me there and back.

Yep, I asked for it before anyone at my neph's office even mentioned it.  For the first time, it didn't hurt in the least.  And it combined the seasonal flu with H1H1, so no flu is gonna get me.  I've had the flu only once in my whole life, and I will NEVER go through that again if I can possibly help it.

Dang Moosemom, only once????? My entire childhood, i had it at least 2 times every year!!!
I declined the flu shot last year, because it seems to me that i get the flu when i get the shot, and do not get the flu (as violently anyway) if i dont get the shot.... I dont recall having any flu last year, just some colds and i think a 24 hr bug...
But this year they talked me into it... So far.. So good  :thumbup; I already had a nasty nasty cold when they gave it to me (this tuesday...) Hopefully I dont get it this year.
