Jenna got her wisdom teeth out yesterday

Jenna went back and forth with the oral surgeon's nurse because they wanted clearance that she would be able to handle the anesthesia with low kidney function. I was proud of Jenna, she did her best to handle it, but I finally made a call after they requested a release, in writing, from her transplant team AND her GP AND her oncologist. I asked the nurse where they got the idea she had cancer and she had no idea. They were covering their butts, I suppose, but it was ridiculous. So we finally got the ok from her nephrologist and that sufficed. Since she was already on the Cipro for a week (her last labs showed she had a bladder infection which happens occasionally because she has to self-cath to urinate) she didn't have to add any more antibiotics.
She's recovering now, has a little bit of chipmunk cheeks but even 24 hours later she's doing well. She's drinking smoothies and Ovaltine and soup and stopped the vicodyn last night.

Jenna sounds like a trooper, some people have a real hard time with the wisdom teeth removal. I have fortunately never had mine. Give her my best and I hope the pain stays away.

Wisdom teeth removal is no fun at all. They did mine with regular local anesthetic in the mouth both times. Oh fun!

Yes, I had all 4 of mine out at the same time, and it was quite a procedure. I decided to get it done prior to D because we all know how important oral health is specially with transplants in the mix. Luckily I didn't have much swealing or any bad stuff after it - it was just weird as my tongue kept going to the empty spots and that was a bit uncomfortable for awhile.
I hope Jenna comes through quickly !!

When the dentist told me to get my wisdom teeth removed I ran away and never went back. Eventually those slow moving things cleared the gum. Ached, yup, itched, there's no doubt about it. But they're fine now. See what some people will do to avoid surgery?

Mine were growing sideways, so they had to slit the gums. Oh, ouch that hurt!!!! Good for Jenna, but after all she has been thru, that was probably a walk in the park for her. Good for her, off the pain meds so quickly.

Hugs to Jenna
Wisdom teeth are not fun at all. At least it is summer and she can have as many icy poles as she wants.

Jenna healed quickly and got through it all just fine. Wish it had gone as easy for me, I had an awful time so I was worried, but luckily she did well.
