Yeap!! Mike has had a persistant cough since he started dialysis over a year ago. He is never overloaded either. No-one can explain it.

I started with a cough about 3 weeks ago. Especially while laying down or when I first woke up. I told my Neph about it at my last appointment. (1 week ago).
He told me it was fluid and "we needed to dry me out" so he up'd my Lasix 20mg once a day to 20mg twice a day and I literally woke up the next morning feeling like a million bucks! I don't wake up coughing now.
I could breath and not get short of breath just going up and down my stairs.
I am pre-dialysis...don't know if your pre-D or not?

I am on home hemo. I will look into what everyone said. I thought it might be the meds and they do keep changing my dry weight. I am sorry to hear that some people did not get it cleared up (Mike). I hope he is doing o.k. Thank you everyone.

I was on lisnopril    which is a high blood pressure med.....   that gave be a constant cough.... I stayed with that medication untill I went on dialysis...as my doctor felt that this would be the best med to slow down the progression of CKD....... just a thought....I quit the med and my caugh went away....it was like night and day

I have had a dry cough for about a month now, and for a change, never thought to connect it to the kidney disease. Did have an angiogram on Oct. 11th which is when the cough started, so, maybe it is related and my GFR has dropped down. Thanks for this post. Very informative.

I developed a constant cough and my doctor told me I was accumulating fluid in my lungs and to step up my dialysis fluid offtake, in other words lower my IW.
Which turned out to be good advice.
