I can fly!!!

« on: July 08, 2010, 02:33:45 PM »

So for those of you not aware I have been living a NIGHTMARE with ins for the last several months due to our"former" social worker. When Otto started D we were at Fresinious but he switched after a month for  home-hemo and we were told by the social worker at Davita that because he had GREAT ins not to worry about Medicare. Fast forward 2 years after we left home-hemo and went back to Fresinios the "new" social worker asked why Otto only had Medicare part A, I explained we were told we had GREAT ins and not to spend the extra money. WRONG we had no idea that after 30 months our ins would no longer be primary so we would be responsible for ALL of Otto's bills. um thanks but the amount we already pay out is just about killing us. We then found out Otto could due open enrollment in 2011 but from Nov 2010 till June 2011 we are primary OMG!!!!We at one point were told we would have to pay back $285,000 to Medicare part A only to find out after a TON of leg work that they never have paid a penny for anything. Well we finally after tons of calls and paper work found out that since we have never used Medicare part A Otto can have Medicare part A & B  effective April 2010!!!! Our AWESOME new social worker was even able to find an organization who will pay for Otto's Medicare!!!! I feel like a ton has been lifted off my shoulders, now if only the scale would show it. LOL

How can you not love this elegantly simple and common sense system of ours? :sarcasm;

I did at least get that it has been sorted out, and for that I am delighted for you! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: (Oh, the tears of laughter they would have received from me if they had suggested I pay them nearly 300k!) Hurrah for the awesome social worker! :2thumbsup;

I was reading yesteday about the Iranian woman who is to be stoned to death and how backward Iran must be.

Then I read this thread. I'm gobsmacked! So how much more advanced is America than Iran?

You can get stoned to death here, but we make it much more complicated and less messy.

Thanks Stoday!  I could go into my rant about health insurance and kidney dialysis, but I'm all ranted out today.

But to be fair I did find there is something I consider a big improvement in dialysis.
