Life's a bitch and then you go on dialysis!

« on: December 21, 2006, 07:22:00 AM »

Saw some cotton wool type stuff in my cycler drain bag this morning for the first time, I believe it's called 'Fibrin'. Is this a product created by dialysis and if so does it increase over time or is it just a a normal substance found in the abdomen?

It's a normal substance that is found in your abdomen.  I was taught that when you see it you should add some heparin to your next exchange bags.   Has your nurse taught you how to do this?
