I'm a 33 year old male Indian citizen living in Vegas currently. Diagnosed with Interstitial nephritis on Sep 2005. Started in-center Hemo D 2 weeks ago.
Except for some minor hiccups my D has went smoothly so far. Since I had some bad experience to steroids in my previous treatments I insist on getting a steroid-free transplant. I was able to find a doctor in my home town (India) who practices steroid-free only transplant for years. The last time I was in India, my cousin brother underwent tests to donate one of his kidneys and is compatible.
We are currently ironing out a few legal issues and once that is cleared, I plan to fly back to get me a working kidney!
As much as I hate to live this lifestyle, I'm blessed with a wonderful wife and two beautiful kids( 2 year old and 3 month old). I wanted to grow old with my wife and see my children grow.
I have at times hated that I have a BIG family back home who at times can overwhelm you. But I was bowled over when almost all of them came forward to donate a kidney to me, thats when I realized how blessed I'm. Yes I have a terrible disease but I also have a great family to help me get through this.
I wish you all the very best.
Cheers
Sammy
