 :waving; I'm a 33 year old male Indian citizen living in Vegas currently. Diagnosed with Interstitial nephritis on Sep 2005. Started in-center Hemo D 2 weeks ago.

Except for some minor hiccups my D has went smoothly so far. Since I had some bad experience to steroids in my previous treatments I insist on getting a steroid-free transplant. I was able to find a doctor in my home town (India) who practices steroid-free only transplant for years. The last time I was in India, my cousin brother underwent tests to donate one of his kidneys and is compatible. :2thumbsup; We are currently ironing out a few legal issues and once that is cleared, I plan to fly back to get me a working kidney!

As much as I hate to live this lifestyle, I'm blessed with a wonderful wife and two beautiful kids( 2 year old and 3 month old). I wanted to grow old with my wife and see my children grow. :pray;

I have at times hated that I have a BIG family back home who at times can overwhelm you. But I was bowled over when almost all of them came forward to donate a kidney to me, thats when I realized how blessed I'm. Yes I have a terrible disease but I also have a great family to help me get through this.

Hunji   That is the word I learned from my friend Navdeep.  Also, pani (water).   ;D  She has always offered to take me back to India and she would find me a kidney.  I don't like to fly.

You truly are blessed. Not so much with the large family, but with their willingness to donate a kidney to you. Best of luck to you, I hope it all goes well and oh, by the way  :welcomesign;  to IHD.

Welcome to our community, Sammy!  Tum Kase Ho? You are truly blessed.  I remember the emotional pain that IHD's founder Epoman went through when his brother refused to even acknowledge his need for a kidney.  I hope that everything works out well for you and that we will be able to put you on our list of members who have received transplants, and your relative on our Hall of Fame of Donors!
This is an excellent site for information and support, through dialysis, and through transplant.  Please think of IHD as your family :grouphug;  caring and sharing.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

I'm from Southern India, a city called "Coimbatore". For those who are curious here is the doctor's website http://www.steroidsfree.com/
They do 3 to 4 transplants a week. Hence they claim they have a vast experience and terrific success rate. Also the cost is way way less compared to US.
