My tube has a white substance in it. it kind of looks like little clouds in the tube. I haven't started D yet. And the last day it was flushed was monday. Is this normal or should I make a phone call?

2 weeks after I had the cath place, I started my PD training.  During my first fill & drain, I had fibrin.  My PD nurse used Heprin in my solution.  What you are seeing is pretty common.  When will you start PD?

Thank you. I didn't think it was a big deal, but it never hurts to ask. I think i was going to start next week, but because they had to reposition the tube; the nurse isn't sure when I will start. It hurts bad when they flush me but I still can't wait to start.

Yep - completely normal.  I had it a little in the beginning but haven't had it since I started cycling regularly.

I just noticed the same thing in mine - I was going to ask, but figured it was fibrin. I have that occasionally in the drain bag. Makes it look like egg drop soup.

Sounds like fibrin.  I used to get that alot when I did PD.  I would use heparin 2 nights in a row at the first sign of fibrin.  But I usually only went 2 nights without using it and then there would be fibrin again.  I was told some people never have fibrin and some people have a lot of it. (like me I guess).  The only problem with the fibrin is it can plug up your lines and you won't drain good.

My nurse just called. She agrees that it is fibrin. I'm getting flushed tommorrow (assuming everything goes well).
