Good Morning everyone! I've visited this board several times and just decided to join so I could be involved in asking some questions I was unclear about. Who better to get advice than from people who've experienced first hand! My boyfriend was diagnosed with kidney failure when he was 18. His symptoms seemed to fade away after that and he became better. Then, about 2 years ago, at age 28, he started feeling the symptoms again. He's a very active man..he was a lifeguard, worked out every day, was on the bike team at Texas Tech, went to Tech for engineering. He's been diagnosed with end stage kidney disease and he's been on peritoneal dialysis since August 2009. Its been very hard on him since he's had to put his life on hold, yet he still wants to pursue a career as a nephrologist. The doctors dont know why he had kidney failure. He tries to stay active now, he's tired and sometimes doesn't have the energy to get up and go workout. I've had to do his PD for him once because he was so tired. I'm as understanding as I can be since I've only been with him 9 months. Oh but what an eventful 9 months its been! Just this past Saturday we found out his mom was borderline diabetic, so she is unable to donate to him. She is devistated! I am still willing to donate and will hopefully be getting a call soon. I will post questions on other topics as I know this is a Introduce only  ;D Thanks for the opportunity to share our story!  :thx;

 :welcomesign; to IHD and I hope that you'll post often here with your questions as well as share your own experiences so we can learn from them too.  We have several members from Texas and members on PD.  I hope that your boyfriend might decide also to join himself for support and information.

Hello jvarnold and welcome to IHD.  I'm so glad you joined.  God Bless you for supporting your boyfriend during this tough time.  He is young and no doubt will get a kidney.  Things will not be cured but much better then.

Keep reading.  Lots to learn on here.

This website is the best! Lots of support for dialysis patients, as well as their family members/caregivers. My partner too has been on PD since June 2009. Looking forward to hearing more from you jvarnold  :cuddle;

 :waving; Hi jvarnold,
Glad to see you join the forum. Your boyfriend is lucky to have a partner willing to get involved and be supportive. So sorry about his mom but hopefully things will work out for a transplant. Best wishes to you both.
Welcome!
