Good evening;

I am just a helper.... My partner is Helen she has had end stage renal for the past 16 years or so maybe longer.  She has not has a transplant.  She started dialysis on pertioniel.  She was on this type of treatment using Baxter HomeChoice.  It worked for about nine years before she had a real bad case of pertionites (Infection in her stomach cavity).  Then had to switch to Hemodialysis at the clinic.  While there they started a new therapy "Nocturnal Home Hemo Dialysis" (NHHD).  We chose to try this new procedure because she was not getting enough dialysis to make her quality of life better.  She went in to the clinic three times a week and felt terrible after each treatment.  She would just be down all day after the treatment and felt good the next day than it was time to go in for the next treatment.  Guess she was lucky to be the first one from Satellite Dialysis to be trained on NHHD.  After Three months training on the Fresenius 2008H machine we were finally able to do it at home.  After 4 years and 9 months using the Fresenius (Really good and solid machine..... No problem using or maintaining it and the water treatment system).  She was doing really well with this treatments.  Six days a week seven hours a treatment.  She has been using a cathater all this time.  She discovered the Nxstage System One at a National Kidney Foundation symposium where she was a guest speaker promoting NHHD on a Fresenius machine.  She switched to the Nxstage about two months ago.  She is doing fine on this treatment and now can and hopefully will do some traveling.  Her blood work has been the same as when she was using the Fresenius.  We are looking forward to, being able to contribute to this forum and hopefully get some help with problems when others can give constructive advice......

HemoHelper, I welcome you and Helen to our site.  This is the best place to vent frustrations and get information.  There is even a section for caregivers that may interest you.  That is great that you are on NextStage.  Sounds like that is the way to go.  I'm looking forward to your posts.
