Diagnosed with FSGS in1990.
Started hemodialysis in April 2006.
Received a new kidney from my sister on Dec. 5, 2006.
Transplant rejection in March, 2009
Approved for second transplant in May 2009
Sister-in-law approved as donor in Dec 2009

Gail,
Just reading back through this I realized that your kidney lasted as long as Jenna has been alive (she was born in 1985.) I am so happy you've gotten another transplant.  :bandance;

Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

And Karol I hope and trust that you know how much I wish that Jenna's kidney would give her 25 years also.  Holy Hannah, re-reading my own post really made me realize how much has happened since it was written!  And the whole thread made me wonder if I've ever unknowingly sat next to Stauff himself at the Toronto General.   :o

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Gail, I am sorry to hear your transplant is failing. But, I know you can handle all of this and will do well on dialysis, until you get a new kidney. Gosh girl, you have lived a life and a half already and we do know you have treated the one you got first as if it was made of gold. Toronto sure got their moneys worth out of you!!!!Best of Luck, I will be thinking of you .

Jean, this is about her old kidney - she has a nice new one now and is doing just fine! I bumped it up because I had been reading about patients going through rejections, sorry if I caused confusion!

        March/April - Started PD
2009 October - PD failing, First fistula put in.
