Call from the transplant unit!

Hi all!
Just had a call from the transplant unit, my husband and i went for a cross match on monday to find out if a three way paired donation could go ahead. The results came back today and the transplant is going ahead.
I'm so in awe of those people who donate their kidneys so that their loved ones can have a chance of a 'normal' life. My husband is one of these people. I'm so lucky. This will be my second transplant and the chance of living a normal life second time around is mind blowing.
I can't quite take it all in, I'm still reeling from the call, can't quite believe that in the next couple of months I have a shot at getting some normality back in my life.
Can we on IHD (maybe we have one already...) have a roll of honour for those people who go through this for love of a relative or just wanting to help? And for those people who allow their dear loved one's organs to be used after they've passed away? I feel there should be something done for them, where we make our gratitiude known.
Wow, my head's spinning!

How wonderful for you! So many people are going to benefit from this! Please give us more details when you have them; we love sharing good news!

Great news Carla, hope all progresses smoothly!
I love your idea of acknowledging donors. I will create a thread to honor donors, living and deceased. Thanks!

Thanks everyone!
No more news as yet, but I know it's going to be a three way kidney 'swap' with 6 people involved, (three giving kidneys and three recipients) Okarol, I love the honour roll! i'm really pleased that you started it up. I'll add a bit on there when I've had my transplant, (hopefully!)
Will keep you all posted!

Things are looking hopeful for the three way transplant! I know that this is old news for anyone in America but over here in the UK they've only been doing them for just over 3 years, so it's all a bit new.
The unit have set a provisional date for the beginning of June. That means that this could be my last month on dialysis for a while!! (for ever fingers crossed
)
We have a few more tests to go through, an independent assessment to determine that I'm not paying or co-ercing my husband into donating, and hopefully in 6 weeks time (or less) it will actually be happening!
No definites and I don't want to raise my hopes too high, as anyone on here knows, nothing is definite until it actually happens, but occasionally my stomach does a little flip of excitment and I dare to allow myself a little dream of life without dialysis....
Will keep you all updated

It is never "old news" and I think it is extra special with the paired donations. The timing of the surgeries has to be hard to work out. We are very excited for you --for everyone involved. June will be here very fast!
