OMG i'm organising my wedding and i stopped to listen to myself today... i'm turning into a bridezilla! what is it about white lace and red carpet and rings that turns an other wise normal woman into a complete nutter?

I actually told hubs to be the other day... it's my day, your mother already had hers (in reference to our Hindu ceremony).... could i get my claws out any futher.....

Everyone seems to have an opinion or idea how your wedding should be and how you should raise your children.  When you have a baby in your arms it is amazing how many "helpful" hints you get.  Especially from complete strangers.  jbeany offered a very polite way to shrug them off I think.

I picked certain jobs and asked people to do them - so my MIL organised the flowers, my mother made the cake, a SIL iced it etc. That way they were busy with their job and left me to organise the rest.  I do recall screaming at  my sister though the day before - something about the flyer things you hand out ... so it doesn't always work.

I wasn't upset with her. I honestly love my mother in law if i ever whinge about her you know i'm really really mad about something (usually hubby) cause she is an absolute saint! i was upset with him and my mum. I have my mum in my ear for a catholic ceremony and she expects it becuase we had the hindu ceremony. I don't know what I want. I really wanted a beach wedding.

I'm hoping for it. If everything goes well (ie i get onto home training or at least hemo soon) then i should have my PD catheter out by mid Feb so my wedding can go ahead (i will not get married with PD belly and i want a bit of time to get my tummy at least marginally flatter).

Also we are getting married a few days after the true equinox so i think it would be lovely to get married in the middle of nature (official equinox on 20th march, actual on 24th, we are getting married on the 27th). But i'm the only one in my family that will get married so my mum is nagging for  a catholic wedding. I think i'd break her heart if i went civil ceremony.

other wise i'm looking for chapels near the beach. There is one... the caridal cerretti chapel, it's amazing and gothic in design so finger crossed.

The Australian Catholic Church wants its money 'donation' and priests don't generally like leaving the church. Also for my mum it's not done under God if it's not in the santity of the church. She's old school. Growing up she was raised in a convent orphanage so she has some pretty indoctrinated catholic idioms

How about a Beach wedding, followed by a blessing in the local Catholic church???...

Or if you ask around, I'm sure you'll find a Catholic priest who'd happily enjoy joining the happy couple in the most beautiful of God's creations, a nice beach!... That's the only thing I miss since I've been using a wheelchair... Being able to go onto a beach... I really miss that!...

Perhaps, a retired priest would be just the man... Sometimes I'm surprised at how open to new ideas the older priests are... Maybe they've just lived longer, and have developed a better sense of the important things in life... They probably realise that the important thing is what happens, rather than where!...

Whatever you decide to do... May I wish you both all the very best in the world, and may you be very happy.....

We had a great priest, sadly he died in July last year (he actually performed my baptism). the other from my school days was a nasty old crotchety thing who told my sister that girls didn't need to go onto years 11 and 12 becuase they were only going to get married and have babies and stop working, so why bother educating them. They are the only two priests i know.

I'm leaning towards St Patricks Chapel (its the old Cathedral, the new one was built next door after some loon set fire to our beautiful church in 96...... he almost got my alma mata but the maintenance man put it out)

But on a good note..... i booked my reception centre today. It's at the marriott hotel sydney. right across the road from hyde park (when ever you see a big fountain in photo's of Sydney that would be one part of hyde park.) Sydney's oldest cathedral is right there as well but i'm not sure if i can book it. St Marys is the 'it' Church in sydney being the biggest and grandest.

If thet get stuck on ideas where to go let me know. I hope they have fun! If they have transport they should check out the blue mountains or if they like horse riding they can goto the blue mountains (lovely place) or peats ridge (up the coast about and hour, transport needed though). another nice spot if they want to relax a bit is the Hunter Valley, it's our wine region about 2 hours north of Sydney. Or even the Kiama blow hole (tour groups go there) There are so many spots around sydney that are great. (sorry, as a Sydney sider anything within 2 hours is considered for a day out cause it's so spread out)

Come to Sydney..... there is a beach here you would love, Bronte, there is a rock swimming pool there that is easily acessible (from memory) it's right on the water front, you get the waves crashing up over and into the pool. And from memory there is concrete all the way from the carpark to the pool. It's lovely. (i'd recommend going in march though... i've had some Irish friends and they used to turn lobster here in summer....... i worked in an Irish ex pat bar for a few years.... not a yucky Irish theme bar, just one where all the expats hung out.... was the best fun!)
