Ok, I was shopping for my doggy at PetSmart and came across this little package of chocolate Oreo looking sandwich cookie things!  I thought.....hmmmmm......dogs can't have chocolate and neither can I, so what is in these things that I might enjoy and not get into trouble.   >:D   I guess it contains a fake chocolate called Carob.  ;D

Has anyone heard of this stuff and if it is also high in phosphorus?  I'm seriously considering eating fake dog chocolate!  Can't blame a girl for looking for a suitable alternative to CHOCOLATE!

I drink chocolate Boast and my Dietitian said that that was ok because it wasn't real chocolate.  What the heck is it and where can I buy it in brick form???!!!

Afraid you'll have to leave those goodies to the hounds, Kana...

Carob is high in both Phospherous (81mg per 100gms) and has an abundance of Potassium (800mg per 100gms)...

Sorry to spoil your fun, but I looked into this for Mum who misses chocolate dreadfully!...

Love....

You can buy Carob bars.

Here they are sold at the local natural food store and are right next to the dark chocolate bars.

They are higher in potassium than chocolate  however and only slightly lower in phosphorus.
