Thanksgiving is my very favorite time of the year. This year Bob and I will go to my daughters for the day. Thank God, I taught that girl to cook. She will be having a total of 8 people, and it will be a lovely day. I am most thankful this year, because of a visit to my neph yesterday with a report that says I am holding my own, GFR is up 2 points, and even the hemo stuff is good. I am also grateful ( for those of you who I have chatted with lately ) The plumber just left and the sink is running free........ whoopee!!!!

This year we're having all the family (mine and my husband's) at our new house.  It will be about 22 for dinner and then others will show up later for dessert and such.  We have a lot of stuff to burn, so we've decided to have a really big bonfire in the evening.  Should be interesting...

We have 10 this yr at my moms house including me. Yesterday I drove to Concordia Ks to pick up my grandma. A 3 hr drive there and back. So 6hrs on the road was worth it to see my grams.  ;D Quite tiring since I had dialysis just before I got on the road.
We have the usually traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Desserts always the best. This year we have 7 pies.
2 pumpkin, chocolate, cherry, apple, banana cream and my favorite lemon meringue, which I made.  ;D looks and smells oh so good.

Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

I live in the British Virgin Islands, and our sister islands are the United States Virgin Islands.  Because of the proximity, there is a lot of cultural assimilation.  That means that even though we do not have a holiday for Thanksgiving, most schools and business places will allow employees a long lunchtime, and the meal will definitely include turkey.
In my home country, we celebrate our Independence Day on November 30.  Once that day is over, everyone starts thinking of, and preparing for Christmas.  In some business places it just means changing the colours of the lights from our national colours of blue, yellow, black to more Christmassy colours.
I have so much to be thankful for.

Jenna is still in Paris, so after we ate I was able to reach her on Skype. She sure is missed! I sat the laptop on the dining room table and she was able to join our conversation. I took a photo, will post it later.

Just another hamster on the dialysis W.O.F.

« Reply #31 on: November 28, 2009, 09:38:24 AM »

Spent Thanksgiving day in dialysis, but that was ok. When I was working I ended up working many Thanksgivings (Chistmas, 4th of July, and other holidays too).  Felt great when I got out of dialysis, scary huh?  My wife had dinner all ready when I got home and I was famished. My step daughter and her family ate dinner at the in-laws, so it was just me and my wife. But, she came over Friday and brought the kids, always fun.
We plan to have the decorations, for Christmas up next week-end. Stept daughter and son-in-law are coming to help.

I agree with you Willowtreewren.  As long as that machine works, I am very thankful for it.
