Me with Baron von Fresenius

« on: November 15, 2009, 01:32:29 PM »

I just found out that a friend of mine had an accident while he was helping to renovate a building. He fell off the roof and hit the sidewalk three stories down. He has a lot of broken bones (including almost all his ribs), a punctured lung, and his kidneys have failed. He is in ICU and he is on dialysis and a ventilator. The doctors are hoping that the kidney failure is temporary, but even if it is, he's still in bad shape. We know that he's going to have years of therapy, and he may never completely recover. This really sucks!

Oh poor man.  Yes - hopefully the kidneys have just had a fright and will come back to normal.  And then he can concentrate on all te other bits.  Oh dear.  Shows how you must enjoy life now eh?  You just never know what is around the corner.  Thinking of your friend.

I got an update, and so far the news is good. He is still heavily sedated, but they are gradually bringing him out of it, and he wakes up every couple of hours. His kidney function is gradually starting to improve, but they still have him on dialysis (CRRT). His breathing is also starting to improve, but they are worried he may have caught pneumonia because of the punctured lung. He has about 20 separate bones that are broken, and he is definitely not out of the woods, but things are looking better. Thanks for all the support and prayers.

Thank God it's looking a bit more positive Adam, even though the road ahead will be a hard one...

I'll continue to remember him...

God bless...
