Up Date on PHT

My husband has had very high PTH for about three weeks. To-day he has recieved a perscription from the neph to up his alficalcidal tablets to 3 a week. It just seems funny he was doing 3 a week a month ago and they cut him down to one. It makes you wonder dose it not.

I always thought high PHT went with high Phosphate ? Do you know what his phos is ?

Kickstart, We are so lucky in Nottingham.We have a site especially for kidney patients called Renal patient view. When Alan has his bloods taken I can go on the site the next day and bring them up. Have you not got this yet where you are? Any way his Phos is 1.5 his Calsium is 2.42 and his PTH is 967. For our American friends these readings are different to yours..Having this site means you can get straight on to the nurse and question your results.

Yeah that PTH is high but the Calcium is in range and the Phos is only slightly above (I'm 1.53 and they don't really care).

Perhaps the meds were educed because something else was out of whack. The whole thing with PTH/K/Ca/PO4 is that it's a balancing act and it seems that when you get one or two in range, something else goes bad.... it's very difficult to get everything to line up....

That sounds good, i want it here. When my nurse gives me figures over the phone they go in one ear and out the other.

His Phos doesnt seem so bad , does it. Yeah we have Patient View , i just dont bother with it ! I can get my results for anything straight away from the unit or even read my notes !
