Harry Cook, an Aussie actor

I just have to tell y'all this story. My son started school in the UK when he was 4. It was apparent that he has some sort of problem which we later knew to be high functioning autism. He started out in a mainstream school where he did well enough for about 3 years. As his classmates got older, they became more socially sophisticated, and my son started experiencing some bullying. But he had one friend, an extraordinary little boy named Harry Cook. He had a younger brother named Max. There mum was named Jo, and we all often would have playdates together. Harry knew my son was "different", but he didn't care. I knew Harry would grow up to be something special. His mum was one of the nicest people I'd ever met. The last time I saw her, she told me that they were trying to get visas to move to Australia; she and her husband had lived there for a while, but they had returned to England and had started a family. My son began going to a special school, I left the UK and remarried here in the States, and I never saw Jo, Harry and Max again.
My son has discovered Facebook, and on a lark, he started looking up schoolmates from those long ago days in mainstream school. The first person he found was Harry; they started corresponding, and Harry said he was an actor. Last night, my son arrived from England for an Easter break visit, and together we looked up Harry on Facebook. The last time I had seen him, he was 7, and here he was 18. And we learned that he has a role in a movie called "Accidents Happen" starring Geena Davis that opens 22 April; I found a trailer for that movie, and there was Harry! I dug out some old photos and found several of Harry and Max, aged about 7 and 5, dressed in their school uniforms, standing on our back balcony in my garden in England. I am just bowled over, and I am dying to know if any of you Aussie IHD members might have ever heard of Harry Cook.

Very cool story...and I always think that kids who seem able to tolerate and even embrace differences will grow up into very special adults...famous or not. Good luck to Harry and your son too MooseMom.

Harry Cook...Google "Accidents Happen" and you will be able to see a trailer for the movie. He plays the elder son. He's only 18 and is just starting his acting career. When I knew him all those years ago, he wanted to audition for Harry Potter, but he was a bit young.
I tried posting a link but it didn't work. Stupid bloody computer.
