G'day everyone!
My names Brad, im from Melbourne Australia. Taken a little while to get registered on here, but thats given me a bit of time to lurk around so to speak. Fairly new to this kidney business as you can tell by my signature. Some of you guys are full on veterans, waiting for your 3rd transplant and things like that is hardcore
.
This has really changed my life a lot, makes things so much harder. I've been patient with dialysis so far, it does get to me though. But got no other choice at the moment. Im lucky in a way as i still pass some fluid and hopefully the PD will help me retain that for a while. I do 4x 2.2lt fills over 9hours every night with 1lt last fill, average 1hr45min dwells.
Right now the immune suppressing drugs scare the shit out of me, yet to have any. Just dont think i'll ever feel the same again. I feel quite good right now on PD, was in a really bad way before i started dialysis.
Anyways its been good reading other peoples experiences, everybody on here knows what the deal is. Not like most my mates
Good to find a place where people really understand.

To IHD Sico
Glad you found us. Seems not many people who arnt in renal failure dont understand the things we go through. But you found a place where people know and understand what your going through.
I just this Friday took home my Baxter machine and i am on the same schedule as you are as far as times and fill amounts.
I just want to start feeling better and get some energy.
Hope to see you on many threads.

sico. Lots of info and support here, but you know that already since you've been lurking. We're collecting men from Melbourne here too so that puts you in a special category. I think we only have one so far, and now you, that's a fair start.
Post often.

cool paul.karen, yeah your will feel alot better once your PD gets going. Ive got the Baxter HomechoicePRO, took awhile to get used to sleeping with it but all fine now. Glad i persevered with PD.
Thanks monrein, good to be here. I noticed in your sig you got a kidney in Feb and then previous one removed later, i did not know you could do that.

Is that you on the bike?
My husband Otto is doing home-hemo and had all our kids on bikes by there 4th birthday, you should see my garage it looks like a showroom floor. Otto refuses to give up riding so he puts a shin guard over his fistula to keep it protected from tree branches.

Hi Brad - met you the other night in the chat room. When we asked all the questions ha ha. I'm assuming you're young? You sound young! I'm in Wellington, so am planning to nip over to Melbourne to visit Richardmel at some stage. We can all go out clubbing ha ha.

Gday lola! Yeah thats me, love my dirtbikes. Something i never want to give up either, and probably the main thing in life that keeps me going. When i was in hospital i was just thinking about being out riding. Was a bit worried when i started PD, because of the no heavy lifting. But i've had to pick my bike up off the ground a few times recently and no hernias so far, touch wood!
Thankyou paris! I think this place is what i need right now.
Hi Hanify, im 32. Younger than the average renal patient i suppose. I'd catch up with you guys for sure.

lol Hanify no clubbing for me.. I'm over that. You know I'm the hot pools man!!!!!
Brad - welcome! It sucks having to deal with this stuff so young - I'm sure though as you continue to get in the swing with it and a routine it will get easier, and of course I'm sure you're a prime candidate for a transplant at some point which is what helps me keep going!

Gday RichardMEL, i got 31years and 3months pretty much trouble free and healthy. when i was in hospital they couldnt find any other problems with me, think im lucky in a way. If you passed me in the street you cant tell anything is wrong. I see youve had a bit of bad luck trying to get a related living transplant. Hopefully youre not waiting too much longer mate. I should find out more info on the 10th of September when we see the doc at St Vincents, my mum has had the most tests done so maybe her.

yeah that's the thing with kidney failure/dialysis.. for the most part people see you and they don't know anything is wrong.. and of course the people that do know go on about "oh you look so good/well!" and it's like... wha?!?!
oh well that's life hey?
fingers crossed for sep 10th!!!
