Sad news this morning, my father in law passed away early this morning. He had cancer all through him and went fast.

I'm terribly sorry to hear this... Not really surprised, though... He's been through so much...

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

Hi Bill, I feel really uncomfortable posting in the forum but I did need to tell you how sorry I am about your father in law.  You know as much as anyone what a hard times he's had and I'm sure you appreciate that all the suffering is gone now.  Give my best to your wife and your mother in law.  dc

My family and I would like to thank everyone who responded to this post. My wife did not realize how many special people were on IHD and wants to thank you all. We will be going to Pittsburg in two weeks and she can go without worrying about her Dad now. There has been trouble in the forums but you all come threw when it counts. I cannot thank you enough.

Bill,  I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers. This will be a very hard week for your wife.   Please keep us updated on the transplant evaluation in Pittsburgh.
