Hello, I'm a social worker and I've worked for two different dialysis companies for a total of over five years. I rarely have problems with patients, but my current company drives me crazy. For the past few years I've been reading the ihatedialysis board and I have found it very enlightening.

 :welcomesign;   I'm a former social worker who also has a long personal relationship with ESRD.  I live in Canada, not the US, but no matter where we live, your input on patient/social worker interactions will be most welcome.

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

 :welcomesign; kkaplan. We love it when professionals join us. We are a great group and support each other and please don't take things personal when we go on a rant. We all need a place to release stuff and this is the best place for kidney disease people. Hope to hear more from you.  :cuddle;

I'm fairly new here too, (and from around the Cleveland area! ;D) and just wanted to say glad you joined us here! I was previously a dialysis tech and my company sometimes drove me nuts also, I completely understand where you're coming from!

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.
