I just watched the pilot and 3 episodes. I had tivo'd them and watched them back to back. Has anyone else seen it?
The nurse, Jackie, is played by Edie Falco, who played the long suffering wife of Tony Soprano.
She does a pretty good job.
From the internet:
Nurse Jackie Peyton is a working mother who gets through her long shifts in the emergency room of a New York City hospital by snorting painkillers, having extramarital sex in a supply closet, juggling ethical dilemmas and, in episode one, flushing a patient's detached ear down the toilet.
With the tagline "Life is full of little pricks," the series is as far removed from a long-running TV medical drama like "ER" as "The Sopranos" was from "The Godfather" movies.
"She's very strong willed and single minded and is not all that concerned with other people's opinions of her. I've always been drawn to people like that because I am so much not that way. She is about getting what she needs," Falco said.
I have heard that nurses don't like the portrayal of Jackie. It's no wonder, if you thought all nurses were drug addicted, and self-willed with unusual habits and scruples. It will be interesting to see how the show develops this season.

So it's like a more adult oriented Scrubs episode.
And not to mention the latest news you posted of the tech who possibly infected lots of people with hepatitis because of her drug addiction. Just something nurses do not need portrayed on tv to set off people to be stupid.

he he I just gave a DVD of it to one of my nurses to watch!! Maybe they will boot me out after they see ti!
I actually enjoy it. I've actually watched a couple of episodes while on Dialysis which has been sort of surreal - being surrounded by nurses and doctors and all that. Still I've enjoyed it. Sometimes confronting, but also oddly comforting... specially that you know underneath her demeanour she clearly is one of the few to actually give a damn about patients being treated as human when it matters. I find that comforting to think about given the numbers of medical types I interact with each week.
It's good.
Speaking of showtime.. I've also just started watching "Hung" ... very interesting show !!!

I am taping a bunch of Nurse Jackie's .. wonder how many there are so far? All of the old ones are $1.01 a piece so I'll just tape them randomly and try to get them in order somehow. When did I become so cheap?

Cool. Thanks. Tiny Bubbles is the one that records tonight (or this week). I'll spurge and pay the 1.01 if it doesn't get them. lol Read more about it last night and made me want to see them.
