Hey all,
Glad to be here! Now to introduce myself;
Kidney problems have always been a part of my life. I was born with a defect of only having one functional kidney. The other was completely useless and shriveled like a prune. Then, to make things worse, my bladder refluxed back into the remaining kidney, whiping more than half of it out. (Talk about being dealt a bad hand
) To make a long story short, I managed to get some 21 years out the partial kidney I had. It's kind of funny, it's almost as if it was holding out for me to finish college because shortly after graduating I had to go on dialysis.
I am on peritoneal dialysis done at night with the cycler machine. Everything is going great, and I felt such an improvement about a week after starting up. I am now 23 and working full time.
Outside of kidney related things my interests include all types of games (video, computer, card, board, etc) and music.
I hope to offer support and advice, because kidney issues have always been such a big part of my life. I wear my catheter with pride. It's a part of who I am, and why should I be ashamed of myself?
