TODAY I HAD MY 8TH SESSION OF DIALYSIS. I HAD A CATHETER PLACED 2 WEEKS AGO UNTIL MY AV FISTULA MATURES. ANYWAY, THE DIALYSIS WENT OK DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE MACHINE KEPT BEEPING AND BEEPING BECAUSE OF MY VERY EXTREMELY MINOR MOVEMENTS. ITS ANNOYING. THEY STOPPED ME AT 3 HOURS BECAUSE THERE WAS BLOOD CLOTTING IN THE MACHINE SO SATURDAY I WILL BE ON FOR 4 HOURS TO MAKE UP. WHEN I GOT HOME I BEGAN NOTICING A BUMP IN THE LEFT SIDE OF MY MOUTH. I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND IT IS A PRETTY BIG BLOOD CLOT. IM WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I USUALLY RESEARCH EVERYTHING THAT I GET CURIOUS ABOUT AND IM TRYING TO FIND A CAUSE, SYMPTOM, RELATION OR ANYTHING TO THIS BLOOD CLOT IN MY MOUTH! PLEASE HELP SOMEONE! THANKS.

No need to shout !  Is it not possible that you have bitten your cheek possibly during your sleep? I didnt think 'blood clots' were visible thats why alot of people end up in hospital because they dont know they have them. If you are panicking so much about it , contact your GP or doctor or emergency dept or renal dept at the hospital and get your mind put at rest  :thumbup;

It's probably a blood blister not a clot.  I get them often if something has rubbed the inside of my mouth (like a jagged tooth or a crisp).  If it's just one I would not panick but if more appear then get it checked as that was the first sign that Dad has such low platelets earlier this year.

I wouldnt think it was a blood clot and if it was I doubt it was in relation to what happened in the machine.

The catheter is in an artery, something noticeable towards the surface as you describe would seem to me to be in a vein.

Blood clots in the machine because of the nature of the tubing and dialyzer.  Just because a clot forms in the tubing or dialyzer doesnt necessarily mean it will start clotting in the person.

But as Kickstart has pointed out, if in doubt contact your GP or emergency room.

As Rose said, it sounds exactly like a blood blister which is no big deal at all.  What's probably happened is that with the heparin, a little bite or pressure from your teeth on the inside of your cheek has caused it.

Blood clotting in the machine could be caused by insufficient heparinization of the lines and as BigSky said the blood in the tubing and dialyzer are quite separate from the blood inside your body.

TECHNICALLY YES, IT IS CONSIDERED YELLING WHEN TYPING IN THIS MANNER AND I AM SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION. I JUST ENJOY TYPING THIS WAY. SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY WRITE ON PAPER IN ALL CAPS...I DONT DO THAT ON PAPER. LOL. ANYWAY, SORRY AGAIN FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING BUT THE BLOOD BLISTER POPPED WHILE SLEEPING AND IT SHOULD GO AWAY IN A MATTER OF DAYS.  :clap;

However you want to type, your readers see it as you screaming at us. Whatever your own reasons, I still see screams and will avoid your messages in the future.
