My son, Scotland, is my heartbeat.

Hi everyone.
I have 2 questions:
1. I do home dialysis 5-6 days/week and my creatinine is over 9.0. I drew my labs this month after 6 days of dialysis. With that much dialysis, shouldn't it be lower?

2. I am having major surgery in 2 weeks. I have finally created my buttonholes which are working fine. While in the hospital, I may not be in shape to do my own buttonholes for a day or two. What have some of you done in this situation?

thanks!

Afraid I can't answer about the Creat, Sharon is usually in the 5's consistently. when She was in for her Kidney removal, I did all her sticks, if you are unable I would suggest that they do normal ladder type sticks until you can do your own, don't want them to screw up your buttonholes.....

Try 20% more dialysis/ Treatment.

Also, make sure you have heparin hitting the filter before the blood.  When I made sure that happened, my Bun clearance increased.

Try slowing it down  (Pump speed) and running at  a lower fractional flow.  It may add time, but  you can get more clearance that way.

Hvae you been cleared for Extended therapy?

thanks. I have my monthly clinic meeting tomorrow. These are good suggestions for me to bring up.
I am not cleared for extended therapy...at least that I know of. What things need to happen in order to be cleared for extended therapy?

I am still trying to clear my charges for home dialysis with my insurance co. They are paying but looks like they are paying in-center rates.
