Hi all,
My name is Angela and I am 37 years old, married with three daughters and live in MN.  I started dialysis last August. Well, technically this my second time on dialysis. The first time was 2 1/2 years of age as the result of HUS (hemolytic uremic syndrome). The kidneys came back and have been holding their own for the last 35 years. Fast forward to Spring 2008. I just started feeling sick in a.m., itching like mad, restless legs (OMG, someone shoot me). Tried to just ignore it all/ sleep it off. Yeah, I know. Finally, went to Doc because I just couldn't function. Doc advised it may be time to start dialysis. I already had a fistula from a hospitalization 2 years earlier. I started dialysis in center the next week and ran 3X a week/ 3 hours from August to March. In March I began training w/ Nx stage and am now dialyzing at home 5X a week/ approx. 2 1/4 hours. Did I mention that I feel like a new frickin person. Duh, right? I haven't felt this good in three years. I know this site is called "I Hate Dialysis" but let me just say how thankful I am for dialysis. I have like a million things I want to do with my life. Yes,  I'm on the "list". Got a call a month ago w/ a zero mismatch. Biopsy came back bad. Oh well. Better luck next time . Hope to make some new friends here.

This is such a fantastic site, cos if you're ever feeling a bit sorry for yourself (which I'm sure we all do some days) you just need to come here and read other people's storys!  Wow.  I am so impressed and moved by all you out there - not just the patents, but the partners and families who are no positive and still willing to have a laugh.
I think we're all maaaaarrrrrvelous!!

Well, if it ain't the crazy one I trained with!  That HH clinic has not been the same since we left.  All the other patients now in training seem so nice and polite!  I can say, I absolutely had some great laughs when training with you!  And we probably made the staff quite weary as we left for the day.

I still like my clinic visits, as I love disrupting the nurses day!  Of course, it is just a short drive for me to visit.

I thought the description might be you, but wasn't sure since your mug shot wasn't there when I first read your intro.

When are we going to have our chicks nite out - and we can dialiyze together.  I'm a 1 3/4 hour run -
how about you?
