Hello to All,
My son has now allowed me to come to his 'personal site,' where he can vent, have questions answered and get the support from friends that know & understand EXACTLY what he is going through.
He told me about this site a couple of years ago and I came in as a guest and told him how much I liked the site. He was rather upset that I came to this site because, as he stated, "its the only place I have." I have not been back, until today when he asked me to come to the site and read his postings. I reminded him that he asked me to stay out, and he said,
"its OK to use the site now, I want you to see how much support & understanding I get from people here and they have helped me figure out how to handle the problems I am having at the unit."
I can't explain how much he depends on his friends here. He will come here and discuss a problem and than ask me and tell me what suggestions & support, he has gotten from here.
I thank God and all of you here, because I KNOW that on a few occasions, if he had not had ya'lls insight understanding, and love his life would have been unbearable. YOU HAVE ALL MADE A WONDERFUL DIFFERENCE IN MY SON'S NOT ALWAYS SO WONDERFUL LIFE.
THANK YOU WITH ALL MY HEART.

What a beautiful post.
Waiting, this site has been a balm for many of us and now you are part of the community, too.
I'm so glad you are here for your son.

I understand your son's love for this site. I can come here and get advice. We are not doctors, but we talk from the heart and experience. Sometimes you just need to hear that someone else going through dialysis understands.
I hope you gain some understanding and information from this site.

What a touching post.
I am glad your son decided to let you see what a great support group he has other then family.
Sometimes you just need someone outside the family to speak with.
And now you can continue the journey together.

Hello Again everyone,
Thank You All...I meant every word.
I have to tell you all something that happened today. My son has had problem in his unit, to the point that he asked me to go to the unit on the nights he has his treatments and stay with him to make sure that when he asks for his benadryl he gets it.
My son was diagnosed with ESRD 12 years ago, he had a transplant for 3 years and than rejected. So basically he has been on dialysis for 9 years. And in those 9 years, he has only asked me to come to the unit to help him 2 times. So, its not as if he needs his Mom, or especially wants his Mom around so much. LOL
Well after coming here and talking with ya'll, he took the bull by the horns and started the ball rolling by calling the ESRD network and finding out what he could do about this problem. He called his Nephrologist 3 times, but this man never returned his calls, but he got info from the network in regards to this problem also. he also had a sit down with the nursing director, and from what he told me it was a GREAT meeting.
He has done what I hoped he would do...take control of this serious problem.
He now feels confident again, not afraid that if he says something about the inadequacies of some of the staff, he will be kicked out of the unit, as has happened in the past.
He told me he appreciated me coming, but he does not need me there anymore...Did I say I was so Proud of him...lol...oh, ya I did...

Neo's Mom. Nice to meet you especially as I feel we know Neo and care so much about how things go for him. I'm so glad that he's taking charge and being appropriately assertive with regard to his care...we all support him in that, as you do too. Hope to see you around here, now that you've been invited to visit more often by your son. You are right to be proud of him.

It's great to know that in a small way we have made life with dialysis/ESRD more bareable for another person and helped them take more control over their situation and life. This sort of thread and posts makes it all worthwhile. Sometimes all you need is that push and the confidence of like minded people to help get things going. I'm so glad we've been able to help Neo get things back on track in terms of his treatment.
A lovely post to read!

I remember Neo posting about you coming on here and how it had upset him as this was the only place he had. I remember some of us (as Mums) tried to explain it from your point of view but at the same time we understood what he meant. I'm so glad that you are both here now, you will both find support in different ways.
I'm here for my Dad and I can't imagine how it must feel to have a child on dialysis but it must be heartbreaking to see them go through it all. I send love to both of you and am so pleased that you have such a great relationship that Neo has asked you to join his family here
