Hadija, Athol, Me and Molly at Havelock North 09

« on: April 26, 2009, 08:19:38 PM »

Hi everyone.  I am 45 and female.  Married with one daughter who is 12.  I was diagnosed late 2007 with multiple myeloma, and for some reason my kidneys were attacked.  By Jan 2008 I was on haemodialysis.  It was really sudden, so I have spent the last year and a half catching up with all the stuff most people learn before they start dialysis at all.  I did haemo for 3 months, then transferred to peritoneal (thank God).  Having done both I am definitely a fan of peritoneal!  I am now doing CAPD, which is even better as it frees up my day.  Really enjoying reading all the posts!  Great title by the way - I'm sure we all feel the same about the daily grind of dialysis!!

By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

It was really sudden, so I have spent the last year and a half catching up with all the stuff most people learn before they start dialysis at all.

Lordy, if I don't know exactly what you are talking about!!
