The date for the exchange of our NxStage machine has come and gone (July 10). Since we have never gone through this before I have no idea what to expect. I would rather not have to change machines since this one has not given us any problems and I hear from others that there are sometimes glitches with machines.

We got the new schedule of deliveries with the next date for the yearly exchange listed as next May. That will be a year since we got our PureFlow machine and I'm wondering if they have just goofed up the dates.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has had their NxStage cycler for more than a year and has experience with the protocols for the yearly exchange of machines.

Aleta (who loves doing home hemo with NxStage!) :2thumbsup;

I have never heard of an "exchange". have had our Cycler for over 2 years, no problems, so see no reason at this time.....

We never heard of this yearly, scheduled "exchange" of cyclers, either.  Marvin had his first cycler for about 23 months, but then it started giving us problems.  In the last month, he's had two "new" and different cyclers -- both experienced problems and after complaining, complaining, and complaining, they finally switched these out.  He just got his latest one last Monday.  I hope it lasts.  If everything's working fine, I see no reason to exchange.

We've never heard of machine exchange either in two years my husband's been on Nxstage unless you have a problem. We do have to replace the pure flow control panel once a year as soon as it hits the year.

Thanks, folks. This is good news as I really don't want to give up this little guy for one that may not work as well. It was a representative from NxStage who explained the exchange to me, saying it was for routine maintenance.

I have had my current machine for over 2 years and  never heard of an exchange. I do believe when it hits 4000 hours it will alarm for maintenance and then they will exchange it for you.
Unless its giving you problems, your stuck with it!!!

Exchanged my PureFlow Chassis and control unit over the last week.  They had to send a new chassis, have me test the control unit, and then send the control unit.  What a pain.

Over here they routinely exchange the pd cyclers every 12 months.  So they can check them and make sure they're OK.  They just replace it with another one.
