Hi I am a 29 year old mother of 4, 2 boys ages 12 and 13 that are mine and 2 girls ages 10 and 13 that are technically my husbands (they are mine in my heart). As you can tell I was VERY young when I had my kids. I found out about my kidney disease when I was pregnant with my first son. (membranousglumariounephritis----I think is how you spell my disease). I was told to never get pregnant again and as you can see, I didn't listen real well. My kidneys really took a beating because of the pregnancy's and because I was a teenager and didn't realize how serious a kidney disease is. On December 9th 1997 my Dad gave me his kidney, it has now failed and I am on hemodialysis every other day for 4 hours each time. I am in the process of trying to find a living donor, My Mom matched but we found out that she is diabetic during the testing, then my husband matched, but I got a real bad UTI and had to be put on antibiotics, so they postponed the surgery, they retested us right before hand and found that I no longer matched him (which is unheard of) they waited 6 weeks to retest, but I still don't match, so now I am on the search again.

This site really caught my eye, cause I HATE DIALYSIS!!! Am I glad to be alive, I guess it depends on how sick I feel when you ask me, or if I have just gotten in a fight about how sick I am with a family member. As you can probably tell today was a bad day for me, My family is doing a spaghetti benefit for me tomorrow, and I did dialysis today and was pretty sick afterward, well my sister jumped all over me about being lazy, and I just lost it. Sometimes I wonder why God put me here? I mean all I do is lay around being sick all the time and I really don't feel like I contribute to society, so why am I here? It's so hard lately cause I normally have such a great outlook on life, but lately I have been feeling really useless, and it just seems like everyone around me is convincing me of it even more. I'm sorry I don't usually rant and rave like this, but I just needed someone who really does know how I feel, to help me.

Hi Devilinswife.  I hope you feel at home here.  I hate dialysis too and wonder why I do it somedays.  But, on my good days I forget that I'm on it.  What a roller coaster ride.  Please read the site rules and regulations.  It gives you a better handle on how we do things here.

Hi, Devlinswife, and welcome to the community.  Too bad your family is not more compassionate when it comes to kidney failure.  This site has people just like you that understand and will be supportive in your times of need.  We are here for each other and YOU!  Anja

OK, for the most part my family is supportive, but sometimes I think they forget how sick I am, cause I am always on the go, also the day I wrote all of that was a VERY stressful time for all of us, cause we were preparing for a spaghetti dinner benefit for me the very next day. So I am sorry if I made them all look like ogres, but I had a awful day that day.

Thanks for all the welcome and encouragement.
