I want to start buttonholes. I dialyze at home and do my own needles. My nurse gave me a powerpoint presentation on creating buttonholes but there was another person doing the buttonholes for the patient. They were able to control the angle of insertion as well as the angle while removing the needles. I can control the angle going in but when I pull the needles out, I am simply pulling on the tubing attached to the needle to slide it out. I'm sure it's at a different angle than the angle I put them in. With this in mind, how have people created buttonholes themselves?
thank you.

I can't really help with your questions, as I am the one who cannulates Marvin's access. But, I can say that we've been using the same set of buttonholes for the last 20 months, and we LOVE buttonholes! I'm sure someone else here can answer your question.

I always thought the needle would come out at the angle it was put in no matter how you pulled on it. We were told just to follow the track when it went in. I think it has to come out in the track it went in no matter what angle you pull on it. The needle just comes out of the hole it was in.
