Monday my fistula was 2 months old. The vein had to be moved because it was too deep. The surgery is listed as........
AV Basilic Reposition. It took 4 hrs and I had to stay over night because of drainage. My Dr. Said it was not a complicated process just very tedias. In his words I now have the cadilac version of fstlulas. My arm has a good deal of swelling, there is no pain, just terrible itching .Hopefully I can stay preD a while longer but I'm glad I will be ready when the time comes.

Glad you have no pain. I hope you stay pre-d for a long time too. Good luck  :thumbup;

Hello!
My fistula was done that way also. I liked the 2-step process. It was done that way on me because they weren't sure my veins were going to work. They made sure it had matured before raising it to the surface with the vein mapping ultrasound. I also stayed overnight for observation. I began using the fistula 2 weeks ago. All is good and I have a great fistula. Hope yours will be the same.

What's this about a 2 step process for a fistula?

In September the vascular surgeon connected a vein to an artery but left them deeper in my arm. In December, she went back in my arm and raised the vein up towards my skins surface to make it accessible. By that time, it had grown quite a bit and I began using it about a month later.

Thanks for the info. It should come in handy to know this when it's time for my fistula.
