Now I understand the budget crisis, but I was in my center on a broken bed for almost three months.  The head would not go up and the knee thing- forget it.  I finally had the director in my sites and I growled loudly at her.  Almost cried.  She said "I only just heard about it."  I said: "Ha!  I have complained every night for the last two months about this damned bed to the techs and nurses. You know I get up out of here and go to work. I need a reasonably comfortable night's sleep. not like some poor slinky with the bed head up too far for me to sleep."  I was already in a bad mood and I almost cried when she offered me a chair for the night.  " God no. And make me even more uncomfortable!" was my answer.  So that night I slept like a pretzel.  I almost put the pillow at the other end of the bed and slept that way, but the lines would not reach.  I think I slept leaning up against the wall for part of the night.
Next time I went in, Hurray, new bed.  Now couldn't that have been done sooner?

It would have been awful sleeping on a broken bed.
It is scary that hospital equipment gets broken and not replaced. My Mum had surgery last year and was in a mixed gender ward. There were four patients in the room and the only patient will a call button was ambulatory; the other three (including Mum) were unable to get out of bed. Go figure! We did jump and down and it was fixed up.

I found out they just moved the beds around.  Some guy makes sure he has the broken bed every night he is there.  Weird, huh? I guess he likes it.  I need mine to adjust a little bit for me.  I cannot sleep in the pretzel position too often.

Going through life tied to a chair!

So here you thought you got a NEW bed.....  and they just moved them around.  Don't ya just love it!  You had better start looking for a camp cot on sale for next time when you have to bring your own.  BYOB

Yeah that would suck. It also sucks sleeping in a chair which I have a hard time doing. Speaking of broken things we have a few tv's at our center where the picture works but the sound you have to play with it and bang it around to get it to stay on, those have not gotten replaced yet.
