I just got my third delivery of CCPD supplies, any body need any empty boxes, so tired of breaking boxes down and taking them to be recycled, I ask the driver if Baxter would take the old boxes back and recycle them he said he had never done that before. :banghead; Oh well just me ranting

I'm wondering if i can get paid for them like plastic bottles.
It would be nice to make money off the people who make money off of me.

The company I worked for moved while I was on PD, so I helped defer some of the costs for them ;) Anytime I heard about someone possibly needing boxes, I was the first to offer. Also, if there are any steep grassy hills and kids in your area, the kids can use them to slide down the hill on (our front yard is steep, and all the kids in the neighborhood love it!). Just a couple of things I did with the boxes.

Haha I'm looking at 2 months worth of boxes right now. I checked on the price for recycling in my area and it was 8 cents on a pound. So hauling 50 pounds of cardboard around is only worth 4 dollars. Not even worth the gas!!!! :banghead;

I use to hate supply delivery day. It was always on Len's dialysis day, living room piled high with boxes and then putting stuff away and breaking down boxes. I would put the boxes in the back of the truck until I went somewhere they did recycling. I asked our delivery guy about taking them and he said they didn't do that. But I'm with you neight  :banghead;

Same in Toronto.  Well we do have to break them down and put them in our blue box.

Marvin's been on home hemo now for 10 months, and, man oh man, have we been through some boxes.  I hate to just throw them out with the trash, but we have nothing else to do with them.  We've given away as many as we could.  I've used lots of them at school for storage, etc.

It's a PAIN is what it is!! I go through a box a day, on the average. So that adds up very quickly!
I have given quite a few away, which does help, but there are only so many people who need
boxes. I have used Freecycle to give them away though.

I just throw them in the boot of my car each week to the local tip and put them in the cardboard recycling bay.

Hi Celtic Warrior. I'm sorry I completely missed your question on this thread but I've just noticed it now. In answer to your question I do PD cycler dialysis 5 nights per week. When you say you have enquired do you mean they havn't yet given you the option of home dialysis?

As soon as one of my PD boxes is empty I break it down and throw it on the floor.  Otherwise they would build up pretty fast.  Then every Tuesday I just put them in my blue recycle bin.  Haven't had any problems so far, and it cuts down on the "trash hobos" getting anything out of my recycle bin so they can sell it themselves.

My Baxter guy says that a couple of his customers sell them. But he's in a city...No market for them in the boonies. There is a paper recyler station near by, I run them down about once a month... I suspect that if I put them along side the trash every week, that people driving by  might take them...not sure.

My city take the broken down boxes with the reclycing also. I don't know why Baxter doesn't take the
old boxes? With all the attention on reclycing you would think they would get with the program. One
problem now is that with the economic downturn globally the price of waste paper had gone down
drastically because China is not buying. The US used to send thousand of containers of waste paper
to China every week.

you can always make a post on cregs list, offer free boxes if they are willing to come pick them up. You will be suprised what people would do to save some money. Espacially people who are moving.
