Watching my Step.

So, Two Days after Christmas, My Husband, who does Dialysis, was admitted to the Hospital with Pneumonia. He was in for 17 Days. He came Home and was Home for exactly Two Weeks. He went to Dialysis, that Day and His Heart rate was so High, they sent Him back to the Pulmonary Specialist, who had Discharged Him from the Hospital. He went right from the Doctors Office, back into the Hospital again. Twenty Days, He was in this time. He just got Home Sunday. He has an Infection in His Lungs, that will not clear up. He was checked for Staph, MRSA, You name it. It's just all from the Pneumonia. Now He is Home on IV Antiobiotics for a Month, ( a Backpack with Tubes, that connects to a Catheter in His Chest, which they put in ) He is also on Oxygen, 24/7. There are Tubes, running all over the Place and this is just at Home, not to Mention His Hookup at Dialysis.  He is very Distressed, about all the Tubes and I am " Watching My Step" so I don't trip over anything. Just letting off a little Steam here Tonight. Keeping the Faith.

Aww Mizar - it's been a tough time - sounds awful for both of you.

Mizar my thoughts are with you both. I know what you are going through and it just is not easy, however you will get through this and better days are ahead. Take care of both of you.

    I also know the feeling, the tubes going in and out of John I often wondered if every one knew what they were all there for. To wards the end of the first week John was in hospital each time I went to visit another one was either added or taken away, They even had to use his foot for one. I think I would have refused to have John home if had still had the tubes.  It is such a big responsibility looking after them, we carers all turn into nurses at the end of the day, one nurse even said to me "are you an x nurse" you seem to know how to handle a patient, and I've only been looking after John for just over 2 years.  Everyone on this site is always saying to take care of your self and I am saying the same to you.  I think this site has taught me so much, just wish I lived near some of the people so we could give each other a hug now and then I could really do with it. If we look at the body and the important organs, seems as if 'he' needs a bit of help with a couple of them.
The tubing will become familiar in a couple of days, or maybe within 24 hours.  I am praying that you do not
become too overwhelmed....

I know how you feel about the tubes, cords etc
I am very clumsy and there was an incident or three when I did in fact trip over tubes and pulled out a cord accidently F***
Dad and I laugh about it now but at the time I was worried sick
You will get used to working around them
You are amazing
You are strong and capable and knowledgeable
What a wonderful caregiver
