So today they weighed Frank & he was 140 lbs. He has been on TPN (directly feeding into vein) for 5 weeks since complications due to surgery he had in April. The last weight we have wa 134 lbs 8 days ago when he went into the hospital. He has had 7 dialysis sessions & is not peeing, very little into nephrostomy bag until today.
So if he had dialysis yesterday & they weighed him 24 hours later how much weight would be from fluid retention?

That would depend on how much he has had to drink and eat.

Was he stripped dry during his run?  Or was he still showing signs of fluid retention, like swollen ankles and puffy fingers?  A 6 pound gain in 8 days seems a bit unlikely on TPN, unless he's been eating full meals as well.  Hopefully, he has gained something, though!

"Asbestos Gelos"  (As-bes-tos yay-lohs) Greek. Literally, "fireproof laughter".  A term used by Homer for invincible laughter in the face of death and mortality.

If you Search "dry weight"  in topic subjects only, you will find a number of threads that discuss this issue.
