Hi all-
My name is Carl, I'm 61, live in Slidell, LA. Been married 39 years to Barbara, have a daughter Theresa who is 37 and a grandson Jackson, 22 months.
I have PKD. Was diagnosed when I was 40. My kidneys were failing, slowly but surely - I got on the Kidney transplant list 3 1/2 years ago. As a condition for transferring from one list to another (I moved), the new center asked me to go through all the physicals all over again because I had had a silent heart attack. (the heart attack was minor and no treatment was necessary.) So, I went through all sorts of tests including a stress test which I failed. I then had an angiogram which I also failed - 99% blockage in the right main coronary artery and two other blockages. I had a triple bypass. Good news, my heart is now working fine. Bad news, the surgery killed my kidneys. I started dialysis 2 days after surgery with the hopes that I'd get some kidney function back. Never happened. I've been on dialysis since October. Good news is that I'm on a transplant list and shouldn't have to wait more than a couple years.

Welcome, Carl! I guess the positive spin on your story would be that they caught the coronary artery disease before a major heart attack occurred.
You will find a great deal of useful information on this site, and the members are very helpful.
Good luck to you, and again, welcome!
